Farm Visits

Cotehill Farm, Osgodby

Michael and Mary Davenport have farmed at Cote Hill Farm for 30 years. Michael milks 70 Friesian/Holstein cows. In November 2005 Mary started using some of the milk to make cheese. Two soft cheeses are made using the unpasteurised milk from the morning milking.

The morning milk is taken from the cows straight into the cheese vat to be hand crafted into Cote Hill Blue or Cote Hill Yellow, often called Yellow Belly because of it’s shape.

Cote Hill's award winning cheeses are available throughout Lincolnshire and the East Midlands.

The cows graze pastures in the summer and in the winter maize and grass silage are made to feed them. The grass land is managed with the environment in mind under a stewardship scheme that not only provides grazing for cows but habitat for nesting lapwings and other wildlife.

We welcome group visits. Please book via www.cotehill.com

Sutton Estates, Hall Farm, Stainton-le-Vale

The Estate can be found in the heart of the spectacular Lincolnshire Wolds in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, 8 miles north east of Market Rasen.

The farm totals 7366 acres and is predominantly arable with a flock of 900 North Country Mule sheep and a herd of 40 organic Lincoln Red suckler cows.

The farm has a strong environmental bias with 263 acres (106 hectares) dedicated to the Countryside Stewardship Scheme.  This area includes grassy field margins, beetle banks, nectar/pollen margins, wild bird seed mixtures, lapwing nesting areas and recreated grassland protecting both archaeological features and ponds.

The farm employs 12 members of full time staff.

Hall Farm is a LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) Demonstration Farm.  Integrated farming runs right through the farming business with sound commercial farming practices working side by side with environmental care.

We welcome group visits. Please telephone 01472 398367
